SKIDOO AVALANCHE AWARENESS WEEK

The conditions in Winterpark, CO were a harsh reminder of the dangers associated with snowmobiling, and it was immediately evident why avalanche safety must be taken seriously. Avalanche danger can easily turn deadly if one isn’t properly prepared; thankfully, Knox MMG, SkiDoo, and Back Country Access teamed up to ensure that Snowmobile Safety Week provides everyone with the resources they need to stay safe no matter what the situation is.

Hana Beaman and Jeremy Mercier provided invaluable insight into proper safety protocols for any situation, from basic etiquette reading and understanding the environment, to an overview of the products they use to protect themselves in the backcountry. By understanding this process, we can all remain safe while enjoying our time in the mountains.

On a personal note, this was one of the coldest experiences of my life. At 11,000 ft and -15°, not only was the equipment struggling at times, but fingers and toes stopped cooperating as well. Never been so happy to crank the seat heaters and blast the hot air in the parking lot when we got back!
